Dr. Twiss’ research is funded by NIH and private research foundations. Co-author of over 80 articles in publications such as Journal of Neuroscience, Neuron, Neurobiology of  Disease, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cell Reports, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, his prior teaching and research experience includes appointments as department head and professor, Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at Drexel University, Philadelphia, 2009-2013; Principal Research Scientist and Director of the Center for Translational Neurobiology, and Director of the Histotechnology Core Laboratory, Nemours Biomedical Research, Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Delaware 2002-2009; Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Thomas Jefferson Medical School, Philadelphia 2004-2009; Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of  California, Los Angeles 1996-2002; and Acting Assistant  Professor, Stanford University Medical Center, Stanford , California 1994-1996.

Dr. Twiss earned his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and his M. D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his medical residency specializing in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology at the Stanford University Medical Center and a post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Neurobiology at Stanford University, Stanford, Calif.
