Dr. Nancy DeMore was born and raised in Newton, Massachusettes. She attended Wheaton College in Norton, MA, where she received her BA in Biology. She went on to attend the University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School where she was awarded her M.D. Dr. DeMore completed her general surgery residency at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, MA. During her residency she spent an additional 3 years as a surgical research fellow conducting breast cancer research with Dr. Judah Folkman at Harvard Medical School. She then completed a Surgical Oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, NY. Dr. DeMore was Professor of Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for thirteen years before joining the staff at MUSC in 2014. Her practice is now based out of the Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, SC. Her clinical interests focus on all aspects of breast cancer, including breast cancer in young women, locally advanced and inflammatory breast cancer, breast sarcomas, and oncoplastic surgery.
